AI Governance and Programs

AI Governance

LG Display is committed to the responsible use of AI based on ethical principles as it advances company-wide AI Transformation (AX). To support this commitment, we have established an internal governance framework to identify, assess, and mitigate AI-related risks. In addition, the AI Model (Algorithm) Management Committee reviews the performance, risks, and governance framework of AI models on an ongoing basis.

AI Management Program

LG Display operates an AI Management Program to manage the ethical, social, and environmental impacts that may arise throughout the development and use of AI.

Limiting Access to Sensitive AI Capabilities LG Display limits access to sensitive AI capabilities that utilize sensitive information or may affect worker safety, personal information, or information security. In particular, access to the ‘Worker Abnormal Behavior Detection’ function, which utilizes workers' video and movement data, is managed through a prior authorization process. Going forward, we will continue to enhance our access control framework for sensitive AI capabilities and regularly review the appropriateness of its access authorization criteria and operational procedures.
Distinct Labeling of AI-Generated Content and AI-Generated Results LG Display clearly identifies data and content generated through AI algorithms as AI-generated. In addition, when AI-driven analytical results are used to support business decision-making, appropriate processes are in place to ensure that final decisions are reviewed and made by human personnel.
Detection and Management of AI Model Drift and Degradation To ensure the stability and reliability of AI model services, LG Display periodically monitors performance metrics for each AI algorithm. To proactively manage performance degradation, potential errors, and data-related issues, we have established dedicated performance dashboards for machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models, further strengthening our AI risk management framework. For generative AI services, service capacity and usage are also continuously monitored to maintain a stable operating environment.
Regular Fairness and Bias Assessments of AI Models As a user of generative AI (LLM) services, LG Display collaborates with the LG AI Research Institute to conduct assessments and reviews aimed at managing fairness and bias risks associated with generative AI models. For AI algorithms developed and operated by us, fairness and bias are evaluated from the data preprocessing stage. Following deployment, algorithm performance and outputs are continuously monitored to identify and mitigate potential data issues and bias through an established post-deployment management framework.
Efforts to Reduce the Ecological Footprint of AI Models and Data Centers LG Display considers energy efficiency when selecting hardware for the expansion of its AI IT infrastructure. In addition, by sourcing 48% of its company-wide electricity consumption from renewable energy as of 2025, we are making efforts to reduce the ecological footprint associated with the operation of AI models and data centers.
Feedback and Reassessment of AI Decisions and Outcomes LG Display places a strong emphasis on respect for human dignity, accountability, transparency, fairness, and security throughout the use of AI. For generative AI services, a monitoring framework is in place to collect feedback on abnormal outputs and support continuous improvement. In addition, AI algorithms developed and operated by us are designed in close collaboration with relevant business departments from the initial development stage. When AI-generated results differ from business judgment or actual outcomes, the results are reviewed based on feedback from the relevant departments, and appropriate measures are taken to improve model performance.
Quantifying the Impact of AI Initiatives and Tools on Sustainability Outcomes LG Display leverages AI technologies to improve manufacturing quality, enhance operational efficiency, and create a safer working environment. The application of AI to improve productivity in manufacturing quality generated approximately KRW 200 billion in economic value, while AI adoption in office operations created annual economic benefits of more than KRW 10 billion. In addition, AI-enabled CCTV systems are used to proactively detect worker safety violations, such as the failure to wear safety helmets, as well as potential fire hazards, contributing to a safer workplace.
Employee Training on the Ethical Use and Security of AI LG Display is committed to promoting the safe and responsible use of AI by its employees. In 2025, we conducted company-wide security training (E-learning) covering security requirements for the use of generative AI. In 2026, we plan to pilot an employee training program on the ethical use of AI before expanding it company-wide.
